I began immersing myself in the scriptures 60 years ago, at the age of 8, and continue to read them daily. In addition, my academic studies have taken me into the history, culture, and languages of the ancient Near East, and I lived in the Middle East for more than 8 years. Most Latter-day Saints who know the Book of Mormon well don't know the Bible and it has been my experience that Christians in general don't know the Bible well, except for the various "proof texts" they have been fed over the years.
